#Confessions T’was the Day Before Turkey Day

Rumi quotes

And, all through the house..

The only creature stirring… is ME and my new baby April!

Happy Wednesday!

I am running five miler tomorrow morning! #EarnYourTurkey or in my case, prime rib #EarnYourPrimeRib lol. Taking today as a rest day as far as workouts! Stretching and a little yoga. I have shopping and cleaning to do today!

Tomorrow is going to be weird. It is the first with out my Mother In Law, it was hard enough without Father In Law, and my Sister In Law is not hosting, Thanksgiving this year. My daughter is growing up and is in Alaska with her boyfriend visiting his mom, and my son is working. I think my husband is hunting in the morning.

My kids aren’t even out of the house and I am getting a taste of being an “Empty Nester!”

My daughter left on Saturday. She is only 17 (going on 25) and it was quite scary for ME to be honest! I’m more worried about the weather than anything. But, I’m lonely.

You would think I would be super productive. And, hopefully I can SAY that at the end of the day, however I have been … well lazy!

Maybe, a little Winter Blues. Sitting with my happy lamp on me as I type.

Where’s my REAL confession?!

I have paid to upgrade this blog a long time ago, at least 6 months. All I really need to do it get on the phone with Blue Host and let them walk me through the transfer. This scares me, literally I fear change. I’ve tossed around the idea of starting a Blog from scratch. Still, this weighs on me. I was going to post my giveaway on Monday, but noticed the dates I wrote down were wrong, so…. what better way to kick off the new blog or new “old” blog than with a giveaway. 🙂

Another confession… I have been binging last couple days. I mean real honest to goodness, mindless eating until I feel sick. I do NOT purge, I just simply inhale food.

Honestly, I wrote it out, what I “really” come up with for reasons why, is I just had a scale victory. I didn’t realize that I had lost 20 lbs until I got on the same scale from two months ago. According to my clothes I knew I lost weight, but it wasn’t until i seen the number on the scale that I think I freaked out and started eating!

(I’ve had different forms of ED though the years) I’ll save all that for another blog.

So, I will recognize and accept that “that just happened!” And, move forward. As always easier said than done, but I put myself on front street and put a sticky note on fridge and cupboards to be “mindful” of my eating!

I am very thankful that I can recognize this pattern only a couple days in to the binge, because I will NOT “have” to lose progress. And, I should be PUMPED from MY success, not let it bring me down!

I am not even worried about tomorrow. I’m cooking so it’s gonna be a good post run Thanksgiving Feast!

So, tell me one confession and one thing to be thankful for!?!?!

Wishing Everyone a wonderful day,

Laurie~

Randomness #JustBecause

Happy Wednesday!

It’s two o’clock in the morning….

The End

Just Kidding! I just can’t sleep! I am not at home, I am watching my friends kids while her parents have surgery. It just so happens that the strongest windstorm ever recorded hit Washington State and the worst is where my friend is at, poor girl in a Hotel in the dark! (I would HATE that!) Luckily, her dad’s surgery was today and she had to spend the night, and she didn’t have to drive back home (which would of been REALLY bad,) because her mom’s pre-op appointment is tomorrow.

If I had my Journal this would be a major Brain Dump moment, but I don’t I have my blog — and here I am.

I have so much to be thankful for and so many exciting things are happening over the next few months, well… the randomness never ends!

I’m currently doing the Holiday Sweat Challenge with Run To The Finish and Fit Approach. I have my 5 miler Virtual Race Next week with Running on The Wall #EarnYourTurkey race. I’m kind of EXCITED! I’ve been getting in shape and my running is improving each and every time I run! This week, Holiday Sweat is focused on Core, which I have been neglecting lately! Something I realized I need to focus more attention on!

Side Random Note: I have another giveaway starting soon! Be on the lookout!

My last giveaway was so much fun I LOVE doing them! My winner Was Sandra from A Promise To Dad Blog.  I am loving her blog!

On another note I WON a giveaway! (I guess what goes around, comes around!) I won the Sunwarrior Giveaway from Susie’s amazing blog Suz Lyfe.

Geez… I could write forever right now, but I need to try to get a couple hours sleep before these kids wake up and have to be taken to all different schools!

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Perfectly Imperfect Race Day –10K YAY #RunningOnTheWall — Halloween Edition

Happy Saturday & Happy Halloween!

Today… I got up early (4:30, but with the time Falling Back tonight that 4-5 AM wake-up is going to feel like 3 AM!

I already had my running clothes laid out the night before. But, wait where is my SHOE!

Hobbling around room in the dark, one shoe on, turn on the lights, still can’t find it, (note to self today is the day to clean my bedroom…thoroughly!) My running shoe is MIA! so my old, old, shoes had to make due!

This Virtual Race Day was not off to a great start. at least I looked cute this morning. Super Cute Hat with my Running on The Wall Gear (my camera on this old phone I’m using, is pathetic! For real the camera is so bad, it’s enough to make me cry!) I didn’t even really realize that it was Halloween, until I was done with my race (people were in costumes and I really wasn’t paying attention lol) …YES MY RACE WAS on a treadmill! I was extremely grateful, that I just had to jump in my car and go to the gym!!! I am loving the Virtual Race aspect of this as well as my monthly commitment to it.

However, the treadmill shut off like 3 times and re-started my time/pace/distance. So, all my race time is iffy I know Jogged/Walked under a Hour and a half. And, that’s all I need to know really! My only competition is myself and right now my GOALS are setting the bar and work on self-improvement…everyday!

Distance… I kept track of with my phone and about 99,9% sure I got the distance right.

However, in my heart ❤ I did the best I could! As far as distance, (may be a little sore, but not too bad.) I have completed a 5K and now 10K. And, feeling more comfortable to really start my “training and work on getting BETTER! Also, I know I have been working on this for years, but getting OUTSIDE and running, I am in the perfect time of year for this. Summer, I have the worst allergies and running in heat is harder for me.

Confession: I had the flu for two weeks +, this is my first real week back to feeling like myself and so no real training was performed! I did yoga when I could and practiced lots and lots of Self-Care.

I did way better than I expected, my time flew by fast, my body felt OK, I did the whole marathon more like a HIIT running/walking. With a couple longer jogs. The treadmill was fine today.

My goal for next month is to do my race outside! And, focus on real training.

Does anyone want to Virtual Race with me?!?!? If so sign up for November on Running on the Wall!

Cold Weather tips and favorite things (like shoes that don’t get wet,) would be graciously appreciated!!!

One More Thing!!! I have a awesome GIVEAWAY  with 5 days left to enter!

You can also enter to win Here!

OK, Two more things! I forgot to add my Overnight Chia Pudding recipe that was my before and after meal before my own race today!

  • One Banana Smashed
  • 2 TBSP Mighty Nut Powered Peanut Butter Protein Don’t forget to enter giveaway! HERE!
  • 2 TBSP of Chia Seeds (fold in)
  • I use Almond Milk, whatever you like/use will be fine about 4- 8 oz. (depending on how thick you like your Chia Pudding.)
  • Splash of Vanilla Extract.
  • Dash Cinnamon and Turmeric
  • Top with Blueberries and Toasted Coconut just for fun!
  • Added Blueberries + Coconut in the morning

Anyways, even if it was a 10K walk/run it is still a success!!!

XOXO,

Laurie~

Completely Random Saturday’s — Coffee Talk — Running, Yoga, and Healing

Good Morning & Happy Saturday!

Day Before, my Virtual 5K with Running On The Wall.

miracle-miva_2_750x750

This is my Swag! Love it ALL! OMG those sandals are to die for. And the shirt is so soft and perfectly fit. But I will tell you more after my virtual race tomorrow. Sunday Runday’s are on a big-time comeback for me.

Long story short + *disclaimer I was offered a chance to run a Virtual Race a month, tell about it for a sawg pack like posted the above, once a month for a year. (Can I get a heck YES?!) Talk about some running motivation! This opportunity came to me last weekend at the Seabrook Retreat, during my brief spot of internet, after a horrid attempt at a run. What really stood out to me was the thought, perfect timing! because, I had actually cried after a asthma attack at the beginning of a beach run. I made it to top of steps and kept on going back to the house to get calm, I didn’t think to bring a inhaler, I have only had a asthma attract a couple times in my life. And, this was  at the very beginning of the workout. (TOTALLY WILL HAVE A POST ON SEABROOK with For The Glow….It was an amazing, life-changing trip that deserves a whole blog post for itself, just like my Running recap will be tomorrow!)

To add to that *Disclaimer, all opinions are my own. I would totally do this, get a bunch of friends from all over the world, to Virtually race with me. With that amazing quality of “Swag” involved and it’s cheaper than a real race and if the weather does not cooperate and you can sort of pick your own date close to that of the event time.

And then I cried, and cried, and cried, in a nice warm shower. It wasn’t just the attack, it was the fact I gave up and I really need to make running and consistently running back in my life.

So, I seen the opportunity to run a virtual race and commit for a year…. I was all over that…. DONE! It said run, walk or crawl! So, my first race will be my starting point basically!

Oh man, it looks beautiful out, but Oh man, my allergies really “turned on” this morning. I am really contemplating the weekly allergies shots. It feels like every season is a season that I have a different allergy.

So, for me “right now” running outdoors is what completely flares my allergies up is out of the question. It sucks because it would be optimal outside running weather! (Shhhhh I am a fair weather runner!) Lucky for me, that’s exactly why I joined the gym!

And, the beauty of a Virtual 5K!

I just got done doing something totally crazy…

Ready for it…

I did my “own” yoga workout early this A.M. No planning ,just flowing this morning. Giving lots of extra attention to what I have been working on healing and stretching what needs to be stretched. I finished…..

… and I just sat there. And, then I meditated for a while no time limit, just until I felt like stopping… and felt this overwhelming sense of gratitude, that I just did something very special for myself.

I have not done that in a long time. My body is so happy right now.

I truly believe that everyone should take their yoga & meditation practice HOME with them!

Also, side note I had to get in and get some Spa Time at Espri Corps Ame’ I told her what hurts where, and had the most AMAZING Massage, and then did an AMAZING Infrared Sauna treatment. Another light-bulb moment from Seabrook, I needed to fix my back and hips AND clear out my lungs or I won’t have any good workouts!

Now I have no plans today except cleaning in my PJ’s! Yes, I took a shower and put new PJ’s on, because … it’s freakin Saturday! It’s my planning day and R & R “personal” spa day.

Anyways, gonna enjoy me some “Wonderful Saturday!”

Have a BLESSED DAY,

Laurie~*

Can I get a AMEN! This is so simple…yet so powerful! I am a true believer in Karma!

Nike Womens Half

Let’s Just say, My Journey to my first Half Marathon, STARTS RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

I have 13 weeks and 5 days until the BIG EVENT! I’ve had some setbacks! My ankle is better, it has not been bothering me, I had two massages next week and started seeing Chiropractor again for my hips/back. I am feeling about 80% better with that issue. So, with the clock running down it’s time to get serious and take this to the next level.

The FIRST level — Confession — I am at the starting point of not being able to run a whole mile with out walking! However, I can HIIT it for a few miles, so that’s a good thing! I know this is a 100% mental challenge that I will have to get over, in order to be successful!

Team

I am so thankful to be working with Team In Training for this BIG goal/milestone in my life!

I have received so much support from the Team and my Mentors!

I re-visited an amazing Guest Post Five Tips for Setting (and Reaching!) Your Running Goal   written by: Katie — at Live Half Full.

In her post she linked —

Top Ten Fundraising Tips for Runners

I really needed this today, in re-visiting her post.

So far, I have not raised any money for LLS — My Fundraising page for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Well, It’s time to get my rear in gear and get going on my GOAL!

My Ideas so far…

* I am trying to volunteer at The County Far in the Bar to raise money in August. I am also, going to talk to local bars.

* I am running a raffle! For every dollar donation, I will be running a raffle to win a Gift Card from Starbucks, Amazon, and iTunes.

* I am working on sponsors, for every Five dollar donation I will be running a raffle with a big prize. The contents are still to be announced.  I will be adding in some stuff myself so it will be an amazing Prize!!!

Question

Have you ever done fund raising for a Marathon?

* What worked for you and what didn’t work for you! I am totally open to suggestions tips, tricks, etc.

* Any and all suggestions are appreciated! And, if you can spare a dollar I will start adding in names for the raffle!

I hope you are all having an amazing week!!!

XOXO,

Laurie~*

Sanity Saving Saturday — Mission Weekend Warrior

 GOOD MORNING!

Happy Saturday!!!! Kinda been a little off and on all week. I don’t know if it was a little writers block, or I just didn’t feel like blogging! It wasn’t a BAD week just not a great one. I’ve been trying to adjust to being at home all the time and not in school or working. It’s been a tough adjustment.

CONFESSION….. I couldn’t get in to Chiropractor, but I did get in two massages this week. My back is feeling much better, but I still need to get in to chiropractor and get my hips aligned. This is holding me back from working out and marathon training! I got a couple good workouts in this week, however, I have honestly not been eating good! So, time to step up my game in the clean eating department! I’m gonna be doing kind of a elimination diet, not “diet diet” I will call it a plan! And, working on my meal plan, grocery list for this next week today. If you are curious about what kind of PLAN I am doing you can check it out at For The Glow It’s called 33 to glow and I am pretty much eliminating certain foods and seeing how my body responds, for the next month. It’s not that hard, I can still have coffee and lean protein, but it WILL be challenging!

This week I was also focusing on getting my home in order. So far, I’ve done a lot of cleaning, but it’s time to focus my intentions on organizing! Clearing LOTS of clutter! I don’t know why this comes so hard for me. Let’s just say I am “Domestically Challenged! Off to a good start thanks to having guests this weekend! But, I have to focus harder on getting ahead.

image

YES! It is time for me to EVOLVE! (This is the name of my gym…lol) I need to get my MIND in the game and my body will follow. I really know that the most important thing about killing GOALS is when I have my mind in the game. Kill the “I can’t do it voice!”

My Evolution…

Get back to everyday mentality working out. I was there before with amazing results. Active rest days are my friends! It keeps the momentum going, which is what I need right now. And, now that my back in getting fixed, it’s time to put marathon training action plan into action!! 100% COMMITMENT~!

So, just WATCH me, I am on a mission!!!

image

Made this my home screen on my phone. Yes, I do believe it’s time to be awesome! 🙂

image

Time for some SELF-LOVE! This includes working out and eating for optimal energy.

Daily meditation and  writing in JOURNAL! (MY ultimate sanity saver!)

Planning, and execution of my weekly planning.

image

I love this saying, posted above!

Sometimes, I feel like I fall down more than most, but it’s time to pick myself up.

It’s all about the commitment! My daily and weekly intentions. To do my BEST every single day, Because my BEST IS good enough!

I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed about the SF Nike Women’s Half, because I have not been getting my runs in. I have not stuck to what I said I would do as far and waking up and just going for a run. I have not worked on fundraising at all and time is closing in (TICK TOCK TICK TOCK,) FOURTEEN WEEKS UNTIL MY HALF!

I AM GOING TO STEP UP OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE AND FOCUS ON OUTSIDE RUNS. Next week, I may do runs at gym to see where I am as far as heart rate, where I am at on a physical level. My STARTING point. Also plan out my other workouts to give myself some well rounded training!

Well, I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend.

I’ve made the decision that weekends are not meant for “REST days,” or “permission to eat whatever I want!” I know myself, and week days are better for this. So much easier to have a rest day in the middle of the week, less likely to fall off the wagon for the whole weekend!

MISSION WEEKEND WARRIOR

QOTD — DO you have rest days on weekends or weekdays? What works for you?????

XOXO,

Laurie~*
