Thankful Thursday!!!

Happy Thankful Thursday!!!

Good Morning! & Happy Thursday!  It’s almost the weekend, which really (almost) means nothing to me. Most of my homework is due on the weekends. My husband works shift work so, he is not always home on the weekends. My kids are older and they are busy off with their friends and stuff. But, I look forward to weekends all the same. Even if they mean, being more productive on the weekends. ❤

Kind-YourselfI

This week, I had a breakthrough that I talked about a little bit, but I needs to be incorporated in things that I am Thankful for! I am Thankful to MYSELF for taking the time for Self-Care! I worked out Monday and realized, my body is just not right! I have known this for a long time. But, when I took a step back and admitted there is a problem that NEEDS to be fixed in order for me to move forward in my life. I live with Back/Hip pain! It’s always there, I don’t even always acknowledge it. In fact, most of the time, I just go on with my day and pretend it’s not there.

I do workouts I shouldn’t be doing until the problem gets fixed. I mean REALLY fixed. After Monday’s not so awesome workouts, I declared this Yoga week and Fix my back week! I’ve happily  & thankfully, made it to yoga every day! I started yesterday, with Physical Therapy, with a friend of a friend, who specializes in Cranial Sacral Therapy and holistic health. I’m pretty sure by the time I am done, that statement will read, physical therapy with MY FRIEND, not just a friend of a friend. Anyways, I knew the second I made the appointment that I was doing the right thing for my body and I have waited too long. Suffered too long. She seems to think a lot of my back problems come from my gut. Which makes sense. And, I have hip problems, because they are out of alignment. I knew about my hips. Ever since I broke my leg a couple years ago and was non-weight bearing for 4 or 5 months. My hips get sometimes up to two inches off! When it get’s really bad, I see a chiropractor, and I get a massage once a month. However, I have not fixed the problem! I go for a couple visits, until I feel better and then stop. But, this time I chose to do the Physical Therapy AND Chiro AND Massage, until I remember what it is like to live without back pain. Also, it will allow me to do the workouts I have been avoiding due to pain. This is a major act of Self-Care for me! I HATE appointments! The exception is massages. But, the results don’t last long for me. I also have scoliosis. Anyways, sorry that got a mile long. The point I am trying to make is, I finally admitted that it’s a REAL problem and I am REALLY gonna fix it this time.

kindness

Spread Kindness To One Person a Day! I love this! I think that I do. I can always practice, being more aware of my actions and feelings and work on this! This world really does need more kindness!

Kindness-battle

Be Kind, for everyone is fighting their battle too! How true is that!!! You can never know what a person is really going through!

thankful-thursday

What ARE YOU Thankful For today?

I could list a million things! But I will keep my list to 10!

1~* My Friends, online and IRL!

2~* My Family! Online and IRL! By blood & by Soul attachment!

3~* Ohhh… I have a massage in three hours!!!!

5~* Being KIND to myself. That is always not so easy being a Wife and Mother! Because, guilt creeps in! Y’all know what I talking about. All these co-pays for me getting fixed could be Christmas presents for my family! Dang Mom Guilt!

6~* My home. While some people don’t even have a home, I need to be grateful for this.

7~* Yes, coffee and Fuzzy socks always make my list.

8~* The holidays are coming and I don’t feel as stressed out this year!

9~* My daily writing. It is helping me work through a lot of my issues.

10~* Last but not least, just that I feel like I am on the right path! I have came a LONG way in terms of self-growth! My dreams are in sight, I just have to take it one day at a time with steps towards them MOVING FORWARD!

Anyways, please leave comments and tell me what YOU are thankful for!!!

XOXO, Blessings to all!!!!!

Awesome Vs. Average Workout — #dishthefit –Tuesday Link-Up

Happy Tuesday!

How do you compare an Average vs. Awesome workout?

For me the answer is always as simple as: MY most Awesome Workout is always the one that I didn’t want to go to! You have a workout planned, perhaps it’s an evening workout for a new class with a friend. And all of a sudden throughout the day you start to think of excuses!

My personal favorite excuses….

I need to spend time with family. Even when you see them all the time. Oh, don’t get me wrong family time IS important. But, I know my family will survive for one hour without me, and when I come back refreshed, I will be in a much better mood!

I need to clean the house. Really?!?! I haven’t done anything all day and I decide that this one little hour is the “one” that I need to be cleaning the house?

I’m too tired. Wrong! I will feel MORE energized after my workout.

It’s Raining or too cold! There are those days you just want to lounge around in your jammies and fuzzy socks and turn the fireplace on. How about a workout? That will warm me up. Hot yoga on these days is the BEST!

I have or homework or work stuff! Nope, that one goes back to the energy thing! I will have more energy and focus after my workout!

This list could go on forever! I love the saying you’ll never regret a workout!

An Average Workout:

*Your injured and you know it!

*You try something too hard when you know your body just needs some yoga!

*You didn’t get ANY sleep. That excuse is valid. Listen to your body your not going to get a good workout with less than 3-4 hours sleep!

My Favorite AWESOME workout is always Yoga. This can be done with 5 hours of sleep! I can go there without actually getting ready, just throw on some boots, I don’t even have to get ready. I have NEVER regretted a yoga workout.

My second Favorite Awesome workout is the…. At Home Workout! You don’t even have to get out of your jammies and fuzzy socks!

How do you explain your Average Vs. Awesome Workout? And what’s your favorite excuse that you can get rid of right now???

Hello October ~ Challenge ~ Intentions ~ Success

Hello October

Hello October! I missed you and all your beautiful colors and weather!

I wish fall season lasted longer where I live. Wait, I wish all seasons lasted longer except for Winter!!!! LOL

OK, So I took a much needed blog break and I have been doing some personal growth work ON MYSELF!

I am going through A Course In Miracles with my Soul Sisters and I am in a super fantastic group for that! Also, in a super fantastic group and working my way through, The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron (AMAZING BOOK I RECOMMENDED IT FOR EVERYONE!!) I found the group for The Artist’s Way through Feng Shui expert, Dana Claudet from one of my favoritest Blogs like ever, The Tao of Dana.

My intention was to re-do the Blog, upgrade, redesign, etc. And then……………………. I got STUCK! Total creativity block and I didn’t even feel like opening it back up until it was done. But, life happens and I am in school Full time and working on other things. I am making a deal with myself to write a blog a day for a month and THEN work on upgrading and re-designing! Sounds like a fair deal! I’ve just got too much on my plate and I will be totally happy with just getting back to writing every day.

And, I found my way back in for” getting my blog going again” inspiration. 🙂 This may be a little confusing. So bear with me please. I love finding blogs, that lead me to other blogs that lead me to other blogs! LOL So, anyways one of my Soul Sisters, Marie over at Kind Inside posted about this Awesome October Challenge. I knew I was totally in and re-opening my blog and dedicating this Month to the Blog challenge~! Kind of a kick ass way to get my grove back!!!

October-Challenge

So, I’M back and these daily Blog Challenges, will fit in perfectly with my life and Intentions Right Now!

The #OCTOBERBLOGGERCHALLENGE originated from another totally awesome blog that I just discovered today! Gacie’s blog is fantastic at Girl Meets Life!

oct-blogging-challenge

I am changing the theme just a little for Day One just a little. Sometimes I call them “goals,” but this month seems like it is a better fit to call what I am doing this month “INTENTIONS!”

Because, simply put, my list is very simple and things that I “intend” on doing this month. Oh I have goals for sure. However, I can’t sat they will be completed during the month of October. “Goals,” I think of more long term, “Intentions” I try to do daily.

red-fall-leaves-13-background-HD-wallpaper

1~* Morning Pages Daily.

2~* Journal Daily. Plus ACIM lessons every day. This is different than morning pages. When I journal I write pretty neat and consciously think about what I am writing. My Morning pages are so sloppy and kind of “stream of conscious” writing or a Big ole’ Brain Dump! My journal always includes gratitude! I have so much to be grateful for!

3~* Take care of my Health! I have doctor appointments all month. working on my back and hips with Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, and Massage. I have a Physical with my family doctor and in HONOR of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I made a appointment with my OBGYN. Last, but not least… I have an appointment with an allergist.

4~* Give 110% to ONE fitness challenge. Here is my problem. I take on too many challenges and can never keep up on them all. So, other than following a little Tone It Up #FriskyFall challenge, I am partnering up with a really amazing girl,to REALLY Give MYSELF over to a 90 Day Challenge from For The Glow. I’ve been off the fitness wagon a little due to sickness and injuries and my fall Jeans from last year do not fit. Seriously, I went clothes shopping and nothing fit right, shopping for me is a hour and a half away from home and I came home empty handed! So, If your following me…get ready because I’m about to pull a serious transformation.

5~* Give 110% to my school work! So, far all my assignments and quizzes are 100%’s 🙂 This makes me happy I love my classes and I love getting good grades!!!

6~* Make Time For Myself. Yep, guess who is priority #1?!?!?! ME! Just really simple things make me happy. A long hot bath, a good book that is NOT related to school, meditation every day, and I even consider exercise ME time!!!

7~* MAKE time with my family!!! Very important! I REPEAT VIP!!!!!! Some things I plan is some date nights with hubby, I volunteer with my daughters cheer team and go to away games on the bus, and my time with my son is usually going to the movies or gaming! Also, I intend to have more family dinners!

8~* Frigging RELAX! When I feel like I am gonna explode. Just Breathe!

9~* Fall Cleaning and MAJOR clutter removal and organizing!

10~* This is kind of a BIG ONE…. WORK on my Time Management Skills to make all of the above happen!!!! Plan for SUCCESS!!! I will not over-schedule myself! I just need to set limits. Especially, when it comes to my phone, internet etc.

That My Friends is my Intentions for October!!! What are yours?!?! I would LOVE to hear them!!!

XOXO,

Laurie~*

Nike Womens Half

Let’s Just say, My Journey to my first Half Marathon, STARTS RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

I have 13 weeks and 5 days until the BIG EVENT! I’ve had some setbacks! My ankle is better, it has not been bothering me, I had two massages next week and started seeing Chiropractor again for my hips/back. I am feeling about 80% better with that issue. So, with the clock running down it’s time to get serious and take this to the next level.

The FIRST level — Confession — I am at the starting point of not being able to run a whole mile with out walking! However, I can HIIT it for a few miles, so that’s a good thing! I know this is a 100% mental challenge that I will have to get over, in order to be successful!

Team

I am so thankful to be working with Team In Training for this BIG goal/milestone in my life!

I have received so much support from the Team and my Mentors!

I re-visited an amazing Guest Post Five Tips for Setting (and Reaching!) Your Running Goal   written by: Katie — at Live Half Full.

In her post she linked —

Top Ten Fundraising Tips for Runners

I really needed this today, in re-visiting her post.

So far, I have not raised any money for LLS — My Fundraising page for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Well, It’s time to get my rear in gear and get going on my GOAL!

My Ideas so far…

* I am trying to volunteer at The County Far in the Bar to raise money in August. I am also, going to talk to local bars.

* I am running a raffle! For every dollar donation, I will be running a raffle to win a Gift Card from Starbucks, Amazon, and iTunes.

* I am working on sponsors, for every Five dollar donation I will be running a raffle with a big prize. The contents are still to be announced.  I will be adding in some stuff myself so it will be an amazing Prize!!!

Question

Have you ever done fund raising for a Marathon?

* What worked for you and what didn’t work for you! I am totally open to suggestions tips, tricks, etc.

* Any and all suggestions are appreciated! And, if you can spare a dollar I will start adding in names for the raffle!

I hope you are all having an amazing week!!!

XOXO,

Laurie~*

Serenity Sunday~ * Rest Day — Weekly Planning~*

*~Happy Serenity Sunday~*

Today is a day of rest, self-care, planning, etc.

I’m a little under the weather today. Good day to take it easy, a perfect day to take care of ME and feed my soul!

An old injury has been bothering me. I broke my ankle two years ago on both side and all of a sudden it’s aching, sharp pains, and creaking. My back feels out and my hips feel off. Time to get in to the chiropractor and massage therapist this week. It’s first on my to-do list for the week.

It has been a really off week as far as workouts and eating good. It’s a catch twenty-two don’t eat good don’t feel like working out, don’t workout don’t feel like like eating good.

*~Weekly Planning — Intentions~*

Just kinda taking my time in turtle mode today.

Get my workouts planned out.

Meal planning/prep and start of the week with a spotless kitchen is my goal for today!

Write out a good plan for the week for house (clearing clutter is the theme of the week.)

STUDY — plan out a block of time to focus. I have less than a month to take my CPT Exam.

Schedule in some FUN!!!!!!!!

Schedule is some ME TIME!!

Really, my intention for the week is to work on time-management, (one of my weak points.)

Limit my social media time, so get organized today, clean up email, set some time limits each day!

Take a block of time each day for just learning and reading. I’m really getting interested in crystals, aroma therapy, holistic health, Feng Shui etc. This could be ME TIME, because I enjoy this so much.

So, today it’s time to pamper me! (Biggest thing on the list is the kitchen.but that will start off my week right!)

* Detox Bath~* (Epsom Salt, Sea Salt, Lavender Oil, surrounded by candles!…ahhhh)

* Mani-pedi~*

* Hair Mask~* (I use Coconut Oil and honey.)

* Face Mask~* (Avocado, Greek yogurt and a little honey.)

* If the sun decides to come out today, a little time in the sun reading~*

* Take time tonight to journal, meditate, and watch the sunset!

Question of the Day???

How do you pamper yourself? Any good DIY rituals? Do you have a specific treat yourself day?

Nameste,

Laurie~*
